New Feature: E-mail updates

 Couple of new features to announce:

• Now when there's a new front page post, all registered users will receive an email with a link to it. 
• Whenever you make a post on the website, and someone leaves a comment.. the original poster will receive an email about it.

There are some limitations to this system as it exists. I couldn't find a way to reliably email members who are not registered on the website. I delayed this feature for quite a bit while I was trying to figure out how to set up a mailing-list externally so I could send an email to one address and have it go out to everyone. There are a lot of barriers set up to try to block spammers so I gave up on this. Unless everyone wants to register on a Yahoo Groups or Google Groups mailing-list, I doubt I'll be able to set that up. Additionally, our host limits how many emails can be sent out an hour so we may have problems anyways. I'll have to keep a watchful eye on it. Consider the front page emails a beta feature for now.

The emails for new comments should work perfectly fine for now. I have it set to include the content from the comment in the email also. I could not send the content of a front page post in the email without extensive modifications, but there's a link to it.

Please email me and let me know if you experience any bugs or undesired behavior from this. If you do not want to receive emails about the front page posts then I can take you off of the list also.
